do laundry or cast on

Cloth all over the coffee table. I sat to study it up close. I knelt to move and re-pin pieces here and there. I stood to take in the big picture. I got nowhere.

full moon at apogee and perigee

Then I realized that the Moon is at the point in its monthly orbit farthest from Earth, called apogee, the one on the left. Perigee, on the right, defines the closest point. It doesn't look like much difference, but who knows -- maybe it's not just me today, possibly it's the Moon's doing. That's almost too convenient an excuse!

When focus and direction are lacking, I say do laundry or cast on. I'm doing both.

  1. The moon sounds like a good reason! I haven't seen the new knitting book yet, but her first one was excellent. Beautiful yarns. Enjoy your day.

  2. Hi Jeannie--the book and the three yarns were a birthday gift a while back-- the book is wonderful and now I don't have to keep renewing it at the library! Yay. Have a good day...

  3. I like your moon theory. I get a regular update from Rising Moon Astrology, on the moon's movements etc. This week it was very clear....don't start new projects until Thursday evening, when the moon rushes into Leo. Apparently we've been "floating in cosmic meditation"...not the time to start new projects, but to finish works in progress.

So there you go, you intuitively knew. I wanted to start my Magic Feather, but had a few things to finish for gifts, and couldn't find any inspiration for my feather, until yesterday lunchtime (I'm in Oz, already Friday here) when I started scribbling, and there were my feathers.

    Love that green yarn!....Nanette

  4. Nanette, thanks for that moon info! I really haven't learned much about the moon's proximity to Earth, but apparently there is an effect. I've certainly felt like I was in a state of cosmic meditation for some time now! Love that term, cosmic meditation...it could be the name of a cloth or art piece...

So cool how your feathers are coming together at this opportune time now, too--will be watching for them over at SEW!
