precious stones

I'm celebrating Lammas tonight and will be wearing my new precious stone. It's the one from the sea from Lyn with little holes nibbled or worn through. When I have more time, I hope to do something fancier with all those wonderful openings just begging for threads or colored wire.

In deep gratitude for the first harvest.

  1. I have heard that stones with holes in them are special, also they are something you can only keep as long as they are meant to be with you...what a beautiful silver pendant. :)
Is that quartz or a moonstone???
    Happy celebration <3

  2. p.s. in regards to stones being with you...they will simply "be lost/disappear" when they are no longer yours.

  3. Marie -- I love that. But honestly I sure hope I never lose it or that it disappears -- the other piece is moonstone on one side and amber on the other -- and thank you! Happy Lammas...

  4. Marie what a lovely notion that is! I love that youve found its magic Peggy and hope it lays well with moonstone at its side.
Someone once told me the tale, and I only half recall it now of course lol That these tiny holed stones were used as arrow targets by the Faery Queens marksmen.
She would throw them up into the sky and her soldiers would aim at them and thats how the holes came to be. Target practise for the little people.
I like to think of them that way but maybe they do waft away when the magic dissipates as Marie suggests. That kind of suits too doesnt it.

  5. love your idea of stitching through the holes-makes me think of that stitching block toy w/"needle & string" attached to sew through the holes.

  6. Lyn, it was so wonderful to wear it. Both stories work for me!
