solstice fire

This morning I collected offerings for the solstice fire tonight -- last year's wreaths, one from grapevines and the other from bindweed vines, a cauldron of pine cones gathered on walks with the dogs, and a nest of threads. Burning them will be symbolic of creating transformational change in my life. I've been thinking a lot about fire's power of transformation and how we really don't know how things will be afterward, that seeking change is an act of faith.

Colorado's forest fires are 55% contained but some say it could continue all summer long -- that could be a lot of change.

And Daisy, black, and Talula, rust, say hello. They seem to know there's magic afoot tonight.

Happy weekending and thanks for coming here. xo

Daisy is beautiful....as is Talula, but Daisy has a presence about her....what breed is she? I did some ritual burning too of the unwanted, mine went into a candle flame...bit chilly for an outdoor fire. It's a pwerful feeling.

Happy weekend to you to x

I love your offerings Peggy and how gorgeous are those dogs peeping through the undergrowth to see what their mama is up to.

Winter solstice here....very chilly and wet this year, but Yay for longer, lighter days.

Your images, doggies are so beautiful :)
Fire most certainly leaves it's mark. Santa Barbara county had a summer full of fires a few years back. So hard on the breathing. Take care.

I hadn't considered that "seeking change is an act of faith," Peggy. Thank you for this insight, and for the warm inclusion and love of your dog companions in the circle.

Nanette, I love knowing that we both light the flame at the same time. Daisy at age eight does have a presence, she is a mix but if you google images for Belgian shepherd, that's her. She's my familiar. Talula is younger and still rambunctious but she will grow into it, too, as we all do! ;-)

Jacky, that is exactly what happened. They took turns occupying the exact same spot to watch me. I hope your days are warming and brightening. I'm at the point where I love the idea of cool and dark!

Hi Nancy, thank you. Wood smoke in the air again this morning. The smell of earth's renewal, I tell myself.

Lyn, thank you. I was amazed that they were still enough to take photos. I think they liked it.
