I used this quilt in the bedroom as a design wall about a year ago. Everything came down after a few months -- but the other day, something caught my eye. Do you see it? It blended in so nicely and I never missed it, not once. Forgot.
Along those same lines -- with the good weather, I've been puttering around the garden, cleaning up and planting -- and came across this bundle made up last summer when we were still eating cantaloupe. It had been outside all winter. Forgot. But I found the photo I took when I first rolled it up. Now washed and ironed, the unmordanted white linen has a pair of wings, if you look hard enough. ;-)
Good surprises, both. Don't you love it when that happens?

Me, too!
do you think that 9 patch has chameleon abilities?! How funny.......it blends in beautifully lol
and what joy to find wings.........er ....woman !lol
You'll be tuned into looking for little
surprises everywhere now...love the cantaloupe wings.
Don't they say bloom where you are planted? That nine patch is certainly doing that and who could pass up wings? I love it!
I see a cantaloupe heart as well! Love the hidden nine patch. Have fun in the garden!
Yes I see it, a nine patch with heart. I bet it was a lovely surprised to find the bundle. A little heart appearing on there - Hugs Nat
Aren't surprises the best? So, are you going to leave that 9 patch there?
Thanks, Deanna -- it's already been soaked and washed in soapy water, rinsed and ironed so I think it's a done deal. The puckers are set though, too, darn it!
Trish & Chris, thanks -- I love what the two of you write and do, too!
Lyn, you're right, just blends right in . . . The wings :-)) -- I should stitch or make some wings, maybe on this piece!
Nanette, thanks -- that is one of life's pleasures, I think, to have happy surprises! Right up there with coffee & wine.
Robyn, thanks so much. Yes, it is blooming right there on the bedroom wall, isn't it? The funny thing is that I loved this piece so much when I made it and then it was out of sight, out of mind.
I saw a heart, too, that only showed on one side of the cloth -- hearts and wings -- both symbols of what I need in this life, how about that!
Nat, yep, there they both were all this time. Unseen but right there. I've slept under that nine-patch every single night! Hugs back.
Nancy, oh yes they are! I'm going to work on that nine-patch some more, I think. But who knows, it's still pinned up and I might forget about it again. Ha.
yes...a kiss on the forehead from TheGodThing
Grace, yes, I like that -- thank you!
